Every day, people are getting jobs at pizzeria’s and restaurants, delivering food items to homes. This has the potential to be a huge mistake, as almost all auto insurance policies EXCLUDE using your vehicle for delivering. Since that was not the intention of personal auto insurance, it became an exclusion on the auto insurance policies in New York.
Either your vehicle should be on a commercial auto policy and it’s use listed as “delivery” or the owner of the restaurant can purchase a “hired and non-owned” auto policy to cover delivery.
This is a huge gap in insurance coverage that most people are not aware of.
