Smart phones, an ideal way to inventory your house for homeowners insurance!
Unsuspecting homeowner’s usually find out when it is too late, that their proof of loss on a homeowner claim is up to them. They must show the receipts or pictures to show what item was lost, stolen or distroyed.
So using your smart phone now makes it much easier to capture proof you have Aunt Ida’s heirloom jewelry. Or Grandpa’s original Grandfather clock. Or that gun collection you have accumulated over the years.
Now most mundane items, like a 32″ TV or your riding lawnmower don’t really need this done but your 60″ TV or your $5,000 John Deere lawnmower does! Or how about grandma’s buffet you have in your dining room. Or the small, but still expensive wine collection you have in the basement (maybe not a full-fledged wine cellar).
Some people are lucky enough to have a piece of art or two, that may have some value to it too.
So it is with a wise eye you need to think about what to save, when it comes to household belongings. What is worth your time to catelog or save in a folder on your computer, laptop, I phone. Today’s technology makes it much, much easier to carry that “burden-of-proof” homeowner insurance companies need for proof in a loss.
If unsure where to start, we can help with your homeowners insurance.
Always try to be a smart insurance consumer.
